Job summary
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Community Learning Disability Team. The role is based at Willis House in Whiston and provides input to the population of adults with Learning Disability across Knowsley and St Helens.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists or those with more experience. We are able to offer supervision and training and support the post holder to complete their newly qualified practitioner (NQP) competencies if needed.
The post holder must have means to travel across Knowsley and St Helens and beyond as part of the role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team (including other Speech and Language Therapists, Learning Disability Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists) as well as partner agencies to offer Speech and Language Therapy communication input which is holistic and person-centred ensuring continuity of care for service users on their journey through the Specialist Learning Disability Service. The post holder will work from within the community service but be expected to be flexible in terms of delivering care within a variety of settings.
The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users and their carers.
The ability, means and willingness to travel between multiple sites in the course of performing duties is essential.
