Job summary

The Paediatric Therapy team are looking for a therapy assistant to support the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering therapy sessions to children and young people across Knowsley and St Helens. The role involves travel across both boroughs.

This post is a temporary contract to cover a maternity leave within the service.

The successful applicant will be expected to support both clinical service delivery and administrative tasks.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Implement rehabilitation programmes/tasks as delegated by a senior member of staff. Make judgements as to the patients response to these activities, taking action as required and report as appropriate giving feedback to senior staff as necessary in line with competencies.

2. To provide, instruct and monitor patients as to the use of designated routine equipment in line with competencies.

3. To monitor and maintain clinical and non-clinical routine equipment as delegated in terms of fitness for use and stock levels taking appropriate action e.g. reporting of faults to senior staff/home loans.

4. To communicate with patients/carers/colleagues/ outside agencies on a range of matters with tact and diplomacy where situations/matters may be sensitive and/or difficult seeking support from senior staff as required and feedback

5 To collect, collate, record and report in appropriate form and content clinical and non-clinical activities to the most appropriate person. Taking action as required

6 To maintain clear, accurate own documentation according to service standards

7 Act in ways that maintain and support equality and value diversity within all clinical and non-clinical tasks, activities and interactions. Identifying and responding appropriately to individual differences

8 Adhere to code of conduct for support workers as identified through the CSP/COT and other relevant professional bodies

9 To organise and plan delegated duties in line with designated tasks and responsibilities responding to priorities as appropriate

10 To contribute actively to own personal development participating within the supervision and appraisal processes as supervisee/appraise

11 To support the team in assisting with learning and development activity for new staff and students

12 Take responsibility for non-clinical induction as required
