Job summary

We are currently recruiting caring, compassionate Bank Health Care Support Workers to support our patients and service users within our Inpatient Mental Health Services.

We are keen to receive applications from experienced Health Care Assistants, who are considerate, supportive individuals who listen and care.Our Bank is a register of healthcare professionals, who support the clinical teams across the Trust, providing short term adhoc cover during times of short staffing or increased clinical commitments.As a bank worker you will be able to undertake work assignments within a comprehensive range of mental health services.Successful applicants will receive good rates of pay, work within a highly supportive environment and be able to work a variety of shifts, predominantly early and late shift patterns.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a qualified practitioner the post holder will implement a range of individual and group activities. The post holder will be required to use their initiative when working independently on the wards and are expected to report any clinical progress or change to a qualified practitioner.

The post holder will work to assist with the continuity of care for service users on their journey through the acute service.

The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users' choice and works along side them and their carers to ensure they are at the centre of care planning.

The post holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct/indirect service user care and support service users under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.

Clinical

Under the direction of a qualified practitioner, participate in the delivery of planned care within in patient environments. The post holder will undertake a range of duties which include:

Assist in the development of personal care skills.

Assist and support in self-help, communication and social skills acquisition.

Assist and promote independence with activities of daily living.

Contribute to service users recovery by assisting them to participate in social, vocational, recreational and leisure activities within the appropriate setting.

Assist in the implementation of specific care programmers and therapies under the supervision of qualified staff.

Be committed to continued development.

Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated.

Ensure appropriate records are keep under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.

Assist in the involvement of service users and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.

Contribute to providing support to service users carers and family.

Work collaboratively with the care team to ensure service users needs are met.

Assist and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

Provide escort for service users and assist in the transfer of service users as directed.

Assist in the development of services.

Assist in the effective and efficient use of resources.

Understand and adhere to Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.

Report any concern regarding service users to a qualified practitioner.

Contribute to service improvement initiatives to enhance the quality.

Assist in service user and public involvement activities.
