Job summary
We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to work as an integral part of the inpatient psychology team Inpatient units in the Walton and Wavertree areas of Liverpool. These posts will be based on adult wards and will contribute to an increase in therapeutic activities on Acute Inpatient wards. Enthusiasm for working with adults is essential.
The successful candidate will be able to support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users working as part of a multi-disciplinary team including psychology, psychiatry, nursing staff and occupational therapy. The team regularly work with other services including social care, community mental health teams, based on individual need.
Please be aware that although the initial work base will be on our Broadoak or Windsor House sites, the staff base will change to Mossley Hill in 2025 as the new hospital is completed. As such, any offers of employment are made with the understanding that you will move with the unit to the new premises.

Main duties of the job
The role will involve supporting psychological assessments and evidence based interventions under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist. Assistant Psychologists will work with the Psychologist in promoting psychological treatments.
The Assistant Psychologist will deliver group and individual psychological interventions for service users on the ward.There will be opportunities to support inpatient services in audit and research, in order to inform service development and support best practice. This is a well-respected role for Assistants wishing to gain further experience of inpatient services, in supportive and welcoming teams.
The successful applicants must have a degree in psychology, which confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
