Job responsibilities
To provide professional leadership to the teams (in line with servicephilosophy), acting as a role model and demonstrating up to dateknowledge of mental health issues and awareness of physical healthneeds, through the development of professional expertise and themaintenance of professional networks.
To promote the mental and physical well-being of Service Users byensuring health promotion, psychological, rehabilitation and educationalneeds are addressed
To lead and coordinate the work of Care Teams, ensuring that theiractivities encompass all facets of Service Users care and are achievedin line with all Trust and local policies and procedures.
To actively seek the view of Service Users and Carers in thedevelopment and monitoring of services, ensuring high standards of caredelivery.
To ensure that Service Users care plans are developed to meet theassessed needs of the individual under the guidelines of Effective CareCoordination, including effective care pathways for Service Users andCarers.
To be a point of contact for Service Users and families if they have anyconcerns about their care, to listen to their concerns and employ highlydeveloped communication skills, to offer reassurance or negotiatesolution.
To employ well-established communication skills to relay sensitive orcontentious information to staff, Service Users or their carers.To use well-established verbal and non-verbal communication skills tointeract with staff, Service Users or their families where there may bebarriers to understanding due to high levels of emotion or resistance.
To provide verbal or written reports as requested by other departmentsor the Operational Team Manager on a variety of issues, e.g.complaints, incidents or investigations.
To maintain a high level of expertise in your area of work i.e. Policiesand Procedures, clinical practice and staff management, in order toensure delivery of high standards of practice in all areas.
To carry out regular audits that will identify areas of good practice, basedon sound research findings. Assist the Operational Team Manager inthe implementation of change.
To ensure that clinical and non-clinical risk is identified and dealt withappropriately. To report to the Operational Manager any risk that cannotbe managed at an acceptable level without external support.
To assist the Operational Team Manager in effectively managing thefactors which have an impact on service delivery, e.g. finances,resources, Service User dependency and staff sickness/absence levels.
To manage sickness/absence by following agreed policies and ensurethat appropriate actions are taken at all stages.
To identify to the Operational Team Manager areas for Servicedevelopment in your area of responsibility.To ensure high standards of service delivery within the work setting.
To ensure that Service Governance is an integral part of the businesswithin the Teams, ensure that all Staff are aware of the ServiceGovernance agenda, and how to influence it.
To participate in local implementation of Trust Policy and ensure it isadhered to within the Teams. Report to your Line Manager any policywhich causes problems in its delivery
To provide feedback, as requested on Trust Policies, to ensure that theviews of the team are represented.
To ensure that all staff are working within the framework of CareProgramme Approach including assessment, care planning, review andaudit.
To ensure the effective coordination of interviews for posts and appointment of new staff.To liaise with the Operational Team Manager re any disciplinary orgrievance issues arising with staff within the Teams and to takeresponsibility for resolving disciplinary and grievance issues, in line withthe scheme of delegation.
To co-ordinate annual Personal Development Plans (PACE) thatincorporates staff training and development needs.
To provide verbal and written feedback to appropriate individualsfollowing formal meetings, e.g. sickness and absence or performanceissues.
To exercise judgement in the interpretation of policies and proceduresinfluencing your role, seeking advice and assistance as appropriate. Tocontribute to the development of directorate protocols.
To take responsibility for carrying out investigations, as directed, intoincidents or complaints received by the Trust. Ensure that theinvestigation is completed within stated timescales and that conclusions /recommendations are recorded in a clear, objective and unambiguousway.
To contribute to the business plan and ensure it is cascaded to all staff.Ensure that staff has every opportunity to influence the process.
To assist the Operational Team Manager in managing the budgets,including any devolved budget from Social Care. To manage theresources which may impact on this. Report issues which may have animpact on budgets.
To ensure all new staff receives induction, participating as necessary.
To ensure this is recorded on personal files.
