Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for Band 3 Technical Instructors to assist in the provision of therapeutic and rehabilitative activities to patients in accordance with the identified needs specified in the patient care plans, focusing predominantly on engaging patients in health and fitness, social and leisure-based activities.
The post will be based in Ashworth Hospital within the Rehabilitation and Recovery Service. Experience of working within a secure mental health environment is essential.
Technical Instructors work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective relationships with patients, delivering a consistent approach to patient care and providing therapeutic interventions, while maintaining operational security.
The successful candidate will work within the Rehabilitation and Recovery Services in the Secure and SpLD Division and will be based at Ashworth High Secure Hospital. Staff may be asked to work across the Secure and SpLD Division including Ashworth, Rowan View Medium Secure Unit or Rathbone Low Secure Unit depending on service requirement.

Support in the development and implementation of patient therapeutic/rehabilitative programmes in conjunction with other members of the team.

Ensure a safe and secure therapeutic environment through conformity with current Health & Safety legislation.
Maintain the health, safety and security of others and initiate, contribute and comply with risk assessment.
To regularly carry out recorded checks to include gym equipment and ensure the maintenance of a safe working environment and to report promptly any problems so as to ensure a prompt response.
Keep up to date with developments and changes in respect of Rehabilitation trends.
Participate in the Trust Appraisal process on an annual basis.
Participate in on-going mandatory training and to take opportunity to extend knowledge and skills to maintain and up date knowledge and skills
Engage in regular supervision and reflective practice.
Maintain a high secure environment in line with High Security Directions
In the absence of the TI2 the post holder will deputise.
