Job summary

The post holder will provide an assessment of patients who have been referred in to the Long COVID Service using evidence based and patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care, providing specialised advice and physiotherapeutic input for the treatment of this disease.

You will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of integrated, co-ordinated, comprehensive, seamless, person-centred care. As a member of the Tier 3 Long COVID Assessment & Treatment Service Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) you will be required to make recommendations based on the principles of shared decision making for people living with or experiencing the impact of Long Covid symptoms and access Tier 3 Services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved with the full assessment and treatment of patients referred into the Long COVID Tier 3 service - A successful, dynamic forward thinking team that covers the borough of Sefton.

The postholder will work both in the community and from clinic bases across Sefton to assess, implement and review treatment plans for patients with Long COVID.

To manage a caseload of clients with these chronic diseases using evidence based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, to assist with running patient support and recovery low level exercise groups, to provide education to colleagues, professionals and members of the public. To provide supervision and guidance to colleagues and students as required.

To work as part of a large, supportive MDT which includes GPs, Matrons, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Work, ICLO, Social Prescribers and Administrators whose aim is to provide holistic assessment and support that will aid patients to recover from Long COVID.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Registered Physiotherapist with the Health Professions Council
  • Degree in physiotherapy
  • Teaching / mentorship qualification or equivalent workbased experience
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • NHS experience

Desirable

  • Evidence in CPD of experience relevant to Respiratory conditions
  • Previous experience of health promotion and education
  • Previous Respiratory experience Previous experience of outcome measures and involvement in audit
