Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Practitioner to come and join our newly formed Mental Health Triage and Response Team. This will be a dynamic and responsive team working alongside the existing and Parliamentary award winning Street Car Triage Service. The Registered Mental Health Practitioner will assist with the coordination and management of Section 136 across the Mersey Care footprint, this will include the consultation and coordination process for identifying Places of Safety; this will be the via the trust professionals line. You will also provide an immediate response via the Street Triage Cars to emergency mental health incidents with partners including Merseyside and Cheshire Police, NWAS, and British Transport Police.

The aim of the Mental Health Triage and Response Team is to support service users and emergency services in line with the "Right Care Right Person" initiative. This will ensure the timely response to service users in mental health crisis and support positive, responsive outcomes. You will oversee the coordination of the Section 136 process ensuring that the service user receives a high standard of care in an appropriate health setting.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Registered Mental Health Practitioner within the Mental Health Triage and Response Team will include providing a response to emergancy mental health incidents via Street Triage Car and also the management of Section 136 including the identification and operationalisation of the identified Places of Safety . You will be the first point of contact and work collaboratively alongside Support Workers and also with Merseyside and Cheshire Police colleagues, British Transport Police and NWAS colleagues. You will also need to develop effective working relationships with Local Authorities, Acute Trust colleagues and Mental Health Services. The Mental Health Triage and Response Team will support service users presenting in crisis and ensure that their needs are met within the identified Places of Safety and assist with a timely assessment and plan.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, assess and formulate risk management plans, support and implement positive outcomes for the service user. A high standard of clinical documentation and clear understanding of trust policy and procedures is essential for this role. In addition an extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983) and Mental Capacity Act (2005) is also needed.
