Job summary

The Strategic Programmes & Development Team is responsible for leading on strategic programmes of change for the Trust. The post-holder will act as Project Manager for key projects and contribute to the overall work undertaken by the team.

Shortlisting planned for 25 October.

Interviews planned for 2 November.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the safe and effective delivery of a number of projects for the Strategic Programmes & Development Team via planned phasing of project works and be the first point of contact internally and externally for project communication.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. Report progress to the Director of Strategic Programmes & Development throughout the project
  2. Work closely with the Director of Strategic Programmes & Development and budget co-ordinator ensuring all budget items are tracked and reported on.
  3. Work closely with partners, departmental directors and leads to deliver project plans.
  4. Lead project management support to a controlled delivery programme of activities
  5. Plan all aspects of project management with relevant stakeholders, documenting, monitoring and evaluating project plans.
  6. Ensure project management methodology deliverables are completed in accordance with project direction.
  7. Manage and track project delivery processes and timeline
  8. Monitor the critical path, contingencies and scope changes
  9. Monitor customer satisfaction and implements process improvement
  10. Attend all relevant project related meetings
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager from time to time.
  12. Ensure fully aware of up- to - d a t e project management practices and compliance with Trust Procedures, SFIs etc.
  13. Utilise Prince2 and MSP methodologies (when appropriate).
  14. Ensure potential blocks and difficulties are dealt with and communicated to the project manager and service provider.
  15. Manage systems and the technology work stream outputs, ensuring deadlines and financial viability is within target and are met.
  16. Report on progress to project team and use monthly performance meetings to check outputs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Formal Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2 Practitioner

Desirable

  • Other Project Management qualification such as change management

Knowledge/Expereince

Essential

  • Project management experience in the public sector or equivalent experience in the private sector
  • Strategic management
  • Managing relationship
  • Achieving goals
  • Demonstrable ability of leading teams in transforming complex multi-site operational services
  • Experience of leading successful projects on time and within budgets
