Job summary
This post holder will work within the Speech and Language Therapy Team which comprises of Speech and Language Therapists and Speech and Language therapy Assistants.
This job will require the post holder to work in a variety of settings including Clinics, education settings and patients homes.
The post holder will have clinical supervision with our clinical lead and access peer supervision and opportunity to link in with Clinical Excellence Networks.
As an employee of Mersey Care you will access regular management and clinical supervision and quarterly Safeguarding supervision. You will also benefit from a yearly PDR via our PACE 365. You will have the opportunity within Mersey Care to support children and young people within the borough of St Helens with their speech, language and communication needs.
You will be able to promote and demonstrate the values of the Trust - Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Respectfulness, Enthusiasm and Support- in all activities and interactions with employees, service users and other stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
- To participate as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in a multi-disciplinary team, with specific responsibility to assess and treat children and young people with Speech, Language and communication needs.
- To be responsible for the delivery of specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy intervention in a variety of settings including inpatient, individuals home setting, clinics for clients with speech, language and communication difficulties.
- To be responsible and accountable for their own caseload and ensure that care plans are written and reviewed regularly.
- To contribute to the prioritisation of the waiting list for Speech and Language Therapy.
- To work alongside and liaise with other professionals within the team, staff in education settings and other partner agencies.
- To provide specialist knowledge on alternative and augmentative systems of communication, where appropriate. To ensure that all relevant agencies have access to all systems.
- To Identify and take responsibility for allocating work to Speech and Language Therapy assistants.
- To be an active and enthusiastic team member by participating with service improvement activities, promoting innovation, being supportive to other team members and proactive when identifying potential issues in the service.
