Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service development in Cheshire and Merseyside working alongside key stakeholders and partner agencies to enhance community provision for people who are autistic or who have a learning disability.

As the Operational Team Manager you will work alongside the Clinical Lead to provide leadership and guidance for the staff team. You will be responsible for the day to day operational management ensuring systems and processes are in place to support effective service delivery. You will act as a resource to locally provided community learning disability teams, specialist autism services, social care providers and the criminal justice agencies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills and be motivated to developing new ways of working. They will demonstrate an ability to apply strategy to practice. They will have a clear commitment to person-centred practices and be able to demonstrate this in their work with individuals, families and teams.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must be willing to travel across Cheshire and Merseyside working with a number of partner agencies including health, social care and the Criminal Justice agencies. You will be required to work primarily 9-5, Monday to Friday and will be required to support the 24 hour on-call Rota.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Specialist Community Forensic Team providing additional support to community and inpatient learning disability and / or autism health and social care services. The Operational Manager will have responsibility for the development of staff and for the effective delivery of person centred services for autistic people and people with learning disabilities who have additional complex needs. The post holder will report directly to the the Clinical Services Manager within Secure Care Division and work in close partnership with the Integrated Care Board, Prospect and team leaders across the Cheshire and Merseyside region to deliver safe and effective services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1 st Level Nurse Registration in Learning Disability/ Mental Health or equivalent professional qualification specialising in Learning Disability.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and other relevant professional bodies. Master's Degree in relevant field or knowledge and experience that is equivalent

Desirable

  • Post Registration Management Qualification (e.g. NVQ 5, Diploma / Degree).
  • Appropriate further professional qualification(s)/ training in an assessment/ therapeutic/ intervention approach (e.g. in a specific psychological therapy such as CBT, CAT, 705 in behavioural interventions) or knowledge of such approaches.
  • Training in formal risk assessment. Training and or knowledge in positive behavioural supports

Knowledge / Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people who have a learning disability and autistic people within a community/ hospital setting, including individuals with forensic needs
  • Expert knowledge of learning disability and autism and related forensic issues. Knowledge of legal frameworks (PACE, MHA, MCA, MAPPA) and application to people with learning disabilities.
  • Experience working with the Criminal Justice Agencies, prison services and probation services.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of giving and receiving clinical supervision.

Skills

Essential

  • Significant and relevant managerial experience within a community service/ team.
  • Demonstrable experience of multi-agency working in the community.
  • Experience of research/ audit/ service evaluation.

Desirable

  • At least 3 years senior managerial experience
  • Delivery of training in forensic issues to groups and individuals.
