Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Greater Manchester Specialist Support Team (GMSST). The team work with people over the age of 16 years who have a Learning Disability and/or Autism and who present a risk of offending or have complex challenging behaviour.

GMSST work alongside other agencies to provide support, assessments and interventions that aim to reduce the need for hospital admission and support people that are in in hospital towards discharge and to live safely within the community.

The successful candidatewill develop skills working alongside other colleagues within the team, including nursing, psychology, social work, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. They will work together to identify and completeassessment work, deliverinterventions and provide direct support to the people we work with. They will also be involved in identifying training requirements and be part of delivery of training packages to other services and agencies.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work directly with service users and service providers, adopting a person centered approach. They will be involved in introducing and role modelling positive behaviour support plans and delivering intervention strategies.

The team have a central office basebut your daily work will include travel across Greater Manchester (travel expenses are reimbursed). The successful candidate will need to be a car driver and have their own transport.

The successful candidate will also need to be able to work flexibly 37.5 hours per week 5 out of 7 days (with weekend work on a rota basis). Thecore hours are predominantly 9am-5pm although you will be required to work outside of these hours i.e. evenings, during times when the service is providing intensive support. You will be paid enhanced payments for hours worked during evenings and weekends as per AFC.

To carry out specific duties that contribute to the assessment of service users under the supervision of the lead clinician.

To develop and maintain links with other agencies and services, both statutory and voluntary.

Essential

  • Apprenticeship in H & SC Level 3

Desirable

  • Good standard of education
  • Qualification in craft, domestic skills, leisure or health equivalent to City & Guild Part 1, or 2 year experience working in a health setting

Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience working in a care setting
  • Demonstrate evidence of working in a team
