Nursing Assistant - Intermediate Care

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Band 2 Nursing Support Worker to work in our Intermediate Care Unit, Buccleuch Lodge, based in Withington, Manchester. Although the Centre is a stand alone unit, the service sits within the Manchester Local Care Organisation in partnership with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The unit delivers care to 14 inpatients of any age requiring a period of rehabilitation. We accept referrals from GPs, District Nurses, UHSM and CMFT inpatients. The main goal for each patient is to return home often with support through a package of care. Patients have very complex medical histories and so our care delivery has to be flexible to meet their needs.

Main duties of the job

Experience is desirable but much more important is to have a caring attitude and good approach to teamwork. You must be able work shifts and rotate between nights and days. We can offer you a friendly and supportive environment and provide continued professional development.We offer excellent training opportunities and the chance to work in a dynamic team, which encourages development of staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks of starting.
  • Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent or undertake and achieve a pass following completion of level 1 functional skills assessment
  • Will be required to undertake level 2 apprenticeship in health care or gain equivalent knowledge and skill through the Trust's Clinical Support Worker Development Programme.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a health care environment.
