Job summary

Manchester Local Care Organisation Community Services provide high quality multi-disciplinary care for the residents of Manchester. The aim being to provide patient focused evidenced based care, working with patients and their families to achieve their goals to maximise safety and function within their own environments. We work across two pathways, the newly refurbished intermediate care unit at Willowbank Lodge which is a 23 bedded facility, and also the Central Home pathway team.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a band 5, Occupational Therapist to join the team on a 9 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a team to deliver evidenced based interventions to maximise patients safety and functional abilities.

To provide assessments to understanding the patients functional performance and prescribe equipment/ make recommendations for support to address limitations within patients home environments including residential care settings.

To prescribe and deliver home rehabilitation programs as appropriate to patients needs

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, work well as part of a team and be motivated to deliver high quality patient care. As care is delivered predominantly in patients homes for the community rotations you will need to be able to travel across the area independently to complete home visits.

The successful candidate will benefit from rotating between the two areas Home pathway & Willowbank bed base. The service is dedicated to supporting the development of all of their staff and the successful candidate will benefit from the training opportunities that will be available to them.

  • Registration with Health Professions Council
  • Honours degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent

Desirable

  • IT skills - European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent
  • Further health related qualification
