Main duties of the job

Working alongside the allergy team at Wythenshawe Hospital, you will provide highly specialist dietetic assessment & management for patients presenting with a range of allergic conditions, including food allergy & intolerances, eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders, anaphylaxis, & complex dietary needs. You will deliver both face-to-face & virtual dietetic-led clinics, ensuring patients receive timely, evidence-based advice & support.

Contributing to diagnostic pathways, you will support patients with oral food challenges & supervised reintroduction programmes, working closely with the wider allergy team. With strong specialist skills, excellent communication & a passion for service development, this role provides an excellent platform for those wishing to further develop leadership capabilities within a specialist area.

The role also includes developing & reviewing patient information resources, participating in audit & research activity & contributing to continuous quality improvement within the service. You will also offer expert advice and education to colleagues across the Trust, supporting the planning of hospital allergy training and policy development, and play an active role in providing clinical supervision to help develop allied health professionals.

  • BSc (Hons) or post graduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • Current registration with HCPC
  • Qualification or evidence of working towards a Masters in area of specialisation

Desirable

  • Higher level degree eg Masters in relevant clinical area or in Clinical Leadership/Management/Education
  • Teaching qualification
  • Current membership of BDA

  • Relevant post graduate dietetic experience
  • In-depth knowledge to expert level of nutrition support, including complex enteral and parenteral feeding regimes and the specific requirements of hypercatabolic ICU patients
  • Experience in a clinical supervisory role, providing support and guidance to junior members of staff and students
  • Evidence of contribution to service improvement
  • Evidence of CPD to comply with HPC requirements for registration
  • Experience of policy and/or protocol development
  • Experience in development and delivery of teaching and learning programmes at under and post-graduate level
  • Evidence of successful change management
