Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Anaesthetics support(ODP) or a nurse with the correct anesthetic qualification.

We are currently seeking both newly qualified and experienced Anaesthetic practitioners (ODPs and Anaesthetic Nurses) to become part of a team working in our 18 theatre suite, which provides a wide range of elective and emergency surgery. Our surgical specialties include Cardiac, Vascular, HPB, General surgery, Head and Neck (including ENT and Maxillofacial), Urology, Orthopedic, Renal and Transplant.

MRI is the Major Adult Trauma Centre for Greater Manchester and we have recently completed our onsite helipad to provide better access to the North West region and we have started the regeneration of our emergency department and expansion of our main theatre complex to include new state of the art operating theatres.

This post will cover a 24hr 7 days a week service so you will be expected to work days, nights, weekends and on calls.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work primarily within Manchester Royal Infirmary Theatres but may occasionally be required to work within theatres at other hospitals within the trust. The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to the client group and will work primarily within the Theatre Department.

The post holder will prioritise, assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of care to an agreed and expected high standard. Work closely with the multi- disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. Participate fully in a structured competency based programme, as required.

The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team on a shift basis, taking overall responsibility for effective management of the team and the maintenance of high standards of quality care to the client group.
