Job summary
Ward 86 BMT & Stem Cell & Ward 84 OPD/DCU is a reginal center for treatment of children with life threatening malignancies and blood disorders. It is a dedicated inpatient, out-patient and day case facility. Our clinic facilitates 30 plus Oncology/Haematology clinics per week including a weekly general anaesthetic list for bone marrow and lumber puncture procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a professional and friendly team, delivering high standards of care to our patients and their families as they undertake complex treatment. We are currently looking for a hard working and enthusiastic Ward Clerk to support our department and achieve an effective and efficient service to our patients.
Please note: There can be occasional/distressing circumstances when dealing with emotional relatives and the consequences of terminal illness.
Main duties of the job
o Greet people attending the reception areas, ascertaining their requirements and respond to those requirements accordingly.o Assist in maintaining the reception areas at all times.o Provide a telephone service, relaying queries and messages as necessary and liaising with other departments where appropriate, upholding patient confidentiality at all times.o Admit patients to the ward using our Patient Electronic Records system HIVE. Creating patient and baby wrist bands.o Transfer patients within the maternity department using our Patient Electronic Records system HIVE.o Discharge patients from the ward using our Patient Electronic Records system HIVE.o Maintain the confidentiality, safety and security of the ward reporting any adverse matters to senior staff and or the security office. Some wards require reception staff to provide access to patients and visitors.o Updating patient demographics on HIVE, our patient electronic system.o Receive, distribute and action mail.
