Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is a major teaching Trust with Ten hospitals on a number of sites. The hospitals involved are North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and University Dental Hospital of Manchester (collectively known as the Oxford Road campus), Wythenshawe Hospital, Withington Community Hospital, Trafford General Hospital and Altrincham Hospital.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration - MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for candidates who are offered permanent vacancies.

The successful applicant will provide a clinical service at Specialty Registrar level, working closely with the clinical team under the supervision of the Consultants. They will be expected to take part in the daily surgical ward round as well as assisting in Consultant led ward rounds as required. They will also participate in out-patient clinic sessions, emergency clinic sessions and assist in theatre. They will be accountable to the General Surgery Clinical Director.

Candidates that are non-GMC registered at the point of application will be considered for this position, under the Trusts International Fellowship Scheme (please note, there is a £500 admin charge for this scheme). Main duties of the job

  • Daily ward rounds to provide care for the surgical patients
  • Providing assistance to the consultants during surgery
  • Attendance at General surgery / colorectal F/U UGI outpatient clinics
  • Participation in the weekly benign MDT
  • Supervision of junior trainees
  • Participating in departmental audits
  • Participation in the middle grade on call rota (1:11)
