Job summary
The role can be based at either the Manchester Royal Infirmary or Wythenshawe Hospital. The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a team of booking officers who are responsible for providing a comprehensive and patient-orientated service dealing with imaging orders across a range of modalities for cancer and none cancer related reasons; supporting timely management aligned to Trust and National guidelines. The booking and scheduling team are cross site based and the team currently operate 7 days between the hours of 8am and 8pm on a rota basis.
This is a multi-skilled role, and the post holder will be expected to rotate on a regular basis within different areas/modalities. The team are also responsible for running checks aligned to HIVE to ensure internal targets are met and orders are managed within HIVE as expected.
The team are supported by an assistant and a waiting list manager per modality who support initial training and guide on day-to-day expectations.
Main duties of the job
On a rota basis to book and schedule aligned to referrer order priority for an extensive range of imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety is a consideration in all we do - this will require discussion for some procedures relating to general health conditions and medications which maybe contraindicated.
Validate orders against clinical indication - at times amending orders to reflect expected delivery times.
