We are seeking adynamic, innovative, and highly motivated Managerto lead our specialistBurns Unit team at Wythenshawe Hospital. The successful candidate will be aregistered nursewith strong leadership skills and a proven track record in managing complex clinical environments. They will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of highly specialised care to patients with major burns injuries, ensuring excellence in clinical standards, patient safety, and staff development.
The role is based within theBurns Unitpart of the regional Burns Centre, which provides multidisciplinary care to patients with complex and life-changing injuries. The post holder will be responsible for the operational and clinical leadership of the unit, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to maintain high-quality, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job
Burns Unit Manager
The Burns Unit is a 10-bedded specialist service, including two High Dependency beds for patients with major burns requiring enhanced monitoring. A key feature is the dedicated Burns Theatre, staffed by the Burns team, enabling seamless coordination, timely surgical intervention, and continuity of care.
As Burns Unit Manager, you will provide visible and accessible leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care in line with national burns standards. You will manage daily operations -- including staffing, patient flow, theatre coordination, and resource allocation -- while supporting and developing the nursing workforce through appraisals, performance management, and professional development.
You will lead on governance and quality assurance, including incident reporting, audit, infection prevention, and risk management. The role also involves contributing to service planning, policy development, and representing the unit at internal and regional meetings. You will play a key role in ensuring compassionate, holistic care for patients and families, supporting rehabilitation and discharge planning.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead a highly skilled and dedicated team within a specialist service at MFT. Applicants must have substantial Band 6 experience, ideally with a Burns nursing background, and strong communication and leadership skills to uphold the Trust's values and high standards of care.
