Job summary

The overall purpose of the RAPID lung cancer service is to enable the diagnosis of lung cancer quickly in order to ensure patients have timely access to treatment

This person will undertake the role of caring for a group of patients through indirect supervision by professionally qualified staff so as to aid in deliverance of all aspects of care so as to ensure patient focused care is delivered safely and timely. Communication both verbal and non-verbal is a key skill required for this role.

This role will include working alongside the wider lung cancer service and bronchoscopy unit staff and include administrative duties.

Main duties of the job

The RAPID programme which stands for 'Rapid Access to Pulmonary Investigations and Diagnosis' is a project launched by the lung cancer team based at Wythenshawe Hospital to dramatically reduce the time taken to complete investigations for patients where there is any suspicion of lung cancer. The team covers lung cancer diagnostics, radiology bookings and the CURE team managing patients with tobacco addiction.

The successful candidate will have experience of supporting and delivering a service under minimal supervision.

Previous knowledge of working in a relevant hospital based role and/or in a clerical role is essential.

In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
