Job summary
The successful applicants will work within the HPB surgical team performing in therange of 200 liver resections, 120 pancreatic resection, 50 complex biliary surgeries ayear. There is also a very heavy workload of benign HPB cases, in particular,complicated pancreatitis and gallstone disease. The unit benefits from four deaneryregistrars and other core and foundation trainees. This post would be ideally suitablefor a surgical trainee who would like to gain specialist clinical and operative experiencein HPB Surgery.For all posts, there is ample opportunity to participate in audits and clinical researchand each department holds regular M&M meetings and an MDT.Surgery, often with a joint case mix with on-site specialities such as HPB, MajorTrauma, Vascular Surgery & Interventional Radiology, Renal & Pancreas Transplant,and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. We also provide exceptional training opportunities inareas crucial for CCT/CESR certification, such as research, quality improvement andmedical education.Applicants should be a surgical trainee who has undergone surgical training outsidethe UK, and possess the intercollegiate MRCS or equivalent and must be fullyregistered with the GMC with Licence to Practise. Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide a clinical service in HPB teams at senior level,working closely with specialty registrar (ST3+ and above), junior clinical fellows andFoundation Doctors under the supervision of the respective consultant team. The postholder will be accountable to the Lead Clinician of their respective specialty. The dailyworking commitments include ward rounds, operating theatre. Clinical research andaudit are high encouraged, and teaching junior doctors and medical students isexpected.
