Band 6 Physiotherapist Full time Static Thoracic Medicine

We have an exciting opportunity for a part time band 6 Physiotherapist 18.75 hours per week (Wednesday to Friday) within the Thoracic Medicine Physiotherapy team. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in respiratory physiotherapy. The post holder will cover both an inpatient and outpatient respiratory medicine caseload. It comprises of a mixture of complex acute and chronic respiratory patients, including Pulmonary Oncology, and some medical patients. The respiratory outpatient caseload is a mixture of breathing pattern disorder, airway clearance and drug challenges.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team and should have a keen interest in service development, audit, and research. They will have a broad range of rotational post graduate experience and demonstrate a commitment to CPD. They must be enthusiastic, flexible and a team player. The post is part time 18.75 hours per week and will also include on call and weekend working.

Main duties of the job

To help deliver a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients in the area of specialty that you are working in.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with a diverse and often complex presentation. You will require excellent clinical reasoning to develop and deliver individual treatment programs and plan appropriate discharges, and be able to prioritise to clinical need.

To be responsible for organising and managing your own caseload to meet service need and patient priorities.

Be able to support, appraise and educate more junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students.

Support your team leaders and deputise as required.

To have excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and be able to show empathy and understanding

Work as part of the therapy team and wider MDT demonstrating excellent communication skills.

Maintain Confidentiality, dignity and professionalism at all times.

To participate in the weekend and On call rotas as departmental policy

To maintain your professional standards of practice and codes of conduct and ensure any staff under your supervision maintain these as well.
