Senior Health Care Assistant

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a band 3 healthcare assistant to work on the haematology day case unit at wythenshawe hospital.

We are a busy but friendly team delivering a variety of treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive treatments.

You will after training need to be able to prioritise patient care and maintain a high standard of nursing care whilst responding sensitively to the needs of our patients.

Good communication skills and the ability to work with the wider MDT are essential.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a phlebotomy and cannulation service
  • Welcome and orientate patients and visitors to the department
  • Perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure, temperatures, pulse and oxygen saturation monitoring.
  • Undertake clerical duties as directed by a registered member of staff
  • Assist with clinical procedures
  • Manage patient bookings
  • Inputting patient information onto electronic database / HIVE
  • Prepare equipment/ rooms prior to commencement of clinic sessions/ day case activity by ensuring the relevant equipment/supplies are available
  • To maintain stock levels and ensure stock rotation
  • To ensure clean and tidy work place environment
