Job summary

The outpatient receptionist is an integral part of the team a the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. We are looking for someone who is proficient, organized, has good time keeping with excellent people and communication skills . They are required to provide a comprehensive service to patients and perform to a high standard the clerical duties.

A key part of the role will be to work along side our MDT to ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner. These tasks include (but are not limited to):

Communicating regularly with patient's relatives and loved ones to provide updates as a point of liaison , facilitating the attendance of patients, updating the Hive system , answering and responding to phone calls in a professional and timely manner.

To operate within clearly defined limits of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines within the department and when necessary improve good working practice.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties include:

  • Greeting patients attending their outpatient appointment
  • Checking patients in on the Hive system
  • booking less than 6 week follow up appointments for all patients attending clinic
  • Answering phone calls and email queries
  • Complete end of day cashing up process
  • Arrange return patient transport
