Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

The work-load throughout the department is varied and interesting with no two days being the same. The successful candidate must be dynamic, possess excellent communication skills, and have a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork.

We will develop your skills to ensure that you work to the highest of standards to provide them with safe and effective care.

You will be RN (Adult)/RGN qualified with at least 2 years post registration experience and have a commitment in progressing within the speciality as demonstrated in your professional portfolio.

Main duties of the job

As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the medical and nursing team as well as the admin staff.

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of Medical SDEC as well as being able to independently take charge of them.

As a band 6 Junior sister charge nurse in our Medical SDEC, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the ward manager to gain experience within the managerial aspect of nursing as well supporting junior staff. You will also work alongside your colleagues in coordinating a shift and ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the department.

You will also be responsible for students and link roles assigned to you, giving you the opportunity to drive change and improve standards.
