Specialist Senior Pharmacy Technician – Clinical Trials

Job summary

We are involved in clinical trials which cover many clinical specialties including haematology, cardiology, renal and rare diseases. Our portfolio includes both adult and paediatric as well as first in human studies. We work with external trial sponsors such as pharmaceutical companies, universities and local research units to ensure clinical trial medications are managed according to the highest standards.

This is a great opportunity to take on a leading role in managing and developing the technical aspects of a Clinical Trials Pharmacy Service at MFT. You will work closely with Advanced Clinical Trials Pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe and effective delivery of investigational medicinal products across MFT sites.

The role will be based at the Pharmacy Department of the Oxford Road Campus (Royal Manchester Children's Hospital) but cross site working may be required depending on service needs (additional sites: North Manchester General Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital).

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the operational delivery of the clinical trials pharmacy service.
  • Ensuring compliance with MHRA, GCP, and Trust governance standards.
  • Supervising and training technical and support staff involved in clinical trials dispensing.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, stock control, and financial monitoring for trial activities.
  • Contributing to the expansion of the existing services and the development of other clinical trials in accordance with the departmental strategic plans.
