Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Estates & Facilities (E&F) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, to join the Health & Safety (H&S) Team at WTWA.
We are looking to appoint a H&S Officer to support the Health and Safety Manager (E&F) to ensure that the H&S agenda, across E&F services at WTWA are provided in a safe and compliant fashion and appropriately managed in accordance with current legislation, guidance and MFT policies and procedures.
You will provide support on the implementation of the E&F strategy in line with relevant health and safety legislation and Department of Health strategy and guidance. You will work to ensure that all Statutory and Mandatory requirements for E&F Services provided by In-house teams; PFI partners and other FM Service providers are satisfied, and all known risks recorded on registers and appropriately managed, working as part of the wider Estates and Facilities, Compliance, Risk and Governance Team.
You will liaise and work closely with E&F Teams to ensure that development schemes, backlog maintenance and lifecycle replacement are carried safely.
Successful candidates will have experience of H&S within E&F services and ideally experience within a healthcare setting.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are required, along with proven problem-solving and influencing skills.
Successful candidates will further be able to meet deadlines, work independently and as a member of a team, and demonstrate flexibility.
Main duties of the job
Assist in developing and implementing systems and processes for E&F in line with NHS statutory and regulatory procedures, Health & Safety Legislation, Trust-wide protocols, legal and quality agendas.
Assist in developing short term and long term plans and actions for E&F to deliver quality solutions and new operational practices improving safe delivery of services.
Receiving, interpreting and analysing varied data (including incidents and serious incidents, complaints, local inspections, risks and other sources) to increase understanding of quality, governance and learning across E&F, and in turn, inform decision making within the department.
Supporting and coordinating E&F incident action plans
Ensuring lessons are learned, actioned and appropriately cascaded across all areas of their work, and to benchmark improvements - both across the Trust and against other organisations - to demonstrate continuous improvements.
