Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Community Paediatric Bladder & Bowel Service - Sister

The closing date is 03 November 2025

Job summary

The Paediatric Bladder & Bowel Service is looking to recruit 2 band 6 nurses, each at 30 hours per week.

The service accepts referrals for children and young people who are suffering symptoms of constipation, daytime wetting and nighttime wetting. We also support children with additional needs to achieve continence by providing toilet training support.

We are a very busy service and engage with a wide range of professionals to ensure that we can support the children of Manchester holistically.

This is an exciting time to be joining our service as we are in the process of transitioning to a team of non-medical prescribers. This aims to provide a more streamlined service for patients by immediate start of medicinal treatment. We are developing the service to provide the best evidence based care available & we look forward to introducing our new team members to our vision.

If you do not have your non-medical prescribing, you will be required to undertake this as part of your role when a place becomes available. You will be supported to achieve this.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must hold a full UK driving license and have daily access to a car.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the Team Leader and the Paediatric Bladder & Bowel Service, Infection Prevention and Control/Tissue Viability Teams, patients, families, carers and integrated teams to provide high quality evidenced based specialist bladder and bowel nursing care, advice and support.

The service provides support in clinics, schools and patient's homes. We attend meetings with wider professionals groups and support other professionals to understand and support the families.

The post holder will provide specialist knowledge and skills, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment and management of this client group. The post holder will improve standards of bladder and bowel care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice and teaching/supporting professional colleagues. The post holder will be responsible for managing a caseload of children with additional needs who require toilet training support.

The post holder will provide supervision and support of the band 4 staff including safeguarding support, caseload reviews and occasional joint visits where required.

You will be based at Longsight Health Centre and your role will cover the North, South and Central Manchester.
