This is an exciting opportunity to join the Macular Treatment Centre Teams at MTC at Oxford Road Campus.
The Macular treatment Centre is renowned as a center of excellence for treatment for macular eye conditions, with high emphasis on research and audit. We are currently looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced ophthalmic nurses to develop the skills required to administer intra-ocular injections and support the work of the Macular Treatment Centre.
Main duties of the job
Trainee Nurse Injectors will be paid as a Band 5 whilst in training and on successful completion will be paid band 6.
We are seeking someone to join our clinical specialist nurse team to make a significant difference to patients' lives and use your knowledge and skills to work with our team to deliver excellent patient care, this may be the post for you. Ifyou are a registered nurse who possesses the Ophthalmic Qualification, experience working in the ophthalmic unit we would love to hear from you.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team you will be expected to demonstrate in depth knowledge and clinical expertise. You will also be expected to demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues relating to the identification, assessment, treatment, and management of this specialist client group.
Interested candidates should have highly effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse team of professionals. Candidates should also be able to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels, have excellent organizational skills and the ability to use their own initiative.

The post holder will have accountability to provide and deliver high standards of patient care and for managing the patient flow of the unit. The main role of a Trainee clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is to provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to our patients in MTC. The CNS will safely undertake the following procedures to meet the patient needs to include Visual Acuity, Intra Ocular Pressure Instillation of Eye drops, Fundus Fluoresceine Angiography, Photo Dynamic Therapy, work in the theatre set up as a circulating nurse to assist the Clinical Nurse specialist and be competent in delivering intravitreal injections to our patients. Patient safety will be compromised due to short staffing levels. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have an ability to problem solve and work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team. You will have a passion for leading a team and be able to demonstrate clear leadership skills, and an ability to deputize for the department manager.
The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a assessor/supervisor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration learners. The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
Due to service expansion there will be a wealth of opportunities for the right candidates, a professional development program will be implemented. You are requirement to work across sites to support the MTC at North, MTC at Trafford and South Manchester to meet the needs of the services.
