Job summary
The role has been designed specifically with the objective of providing the post holder with the relevant qualifications, practical experience, and support to progress from band 6 to band 7 across an agreed period (dependent on the experience and completion of professional accountancy qualification of the successful candidate).
The Senior Management Accounts Officer / Deputy Finance Business Partner will be an integral part of the Division, providing high quality and timely financial advice and support to multidisciplinary Divisional and Directorate teams (including clinicians, ward managers and budget holders) to enable the delivery of the Hospital's financial objectives:
- To ensure comprehensive and timely monthly reporting of Directorates financial position.
- To participate in and co-ordinate the setting of the Hospital Directorates revenue budgets
- To assist in the training of budget holders and managers in budgetary management and control.
- To assist in the training and development of individuals within Financial Management.
The post holder will provide support to the divisional Senior Finance Business Partner as part of both business-as-usual financial reporting and specific projects.

Main duties of the job
- Assist the Senior Finance Business Partner in formulating, agreeing and setting budgets in consultation with managers and in accordance with Trust policies and strategies and to maintain controls on budget movements throughout the financial year.
- Contribute to the monthly production of the directorates' and divisional financial position and forecast by achieving the corporate reporting timetable and by accurately maintaining the financial ledger.
- Support the investigation of variances to plan to provide high quality information to budget holders to enable timely implementation of remedial actions.
- Provide and distribute regular financial reports to strict deadlines to enable proactive management of budgets by budget holders.
- Establish and maintain regular liaison with appropriate Directorate Managers, ward and Departmental Managers and budget holders.
- Assist in developing the quality of financial information and support provided by the Department and to be pro-active in the provision of financial information to managers, to explain finance departmental strategy and resolve queries.
- Contribute to the business planning process, service and capacity planning with the Senior Finance Business Partner, Directorate Managers and Service Managers, using well developed analytical and accounting skills and a range of computerised systems.
