Parent Educator for Long Term Ventilation

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our busy Long Term Ventilation service as a band 6 parent educator, working with children and young people who are dependent on medical technology and have significant medical complexities.The successful applicant will be required to provide education and training to families and carers to empower them to provide safe, competent and effective care at home.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Long Term Ventilation (LTV) MDT in implementing education, training and the development of training packages for parents/carers and care providers for LTV within the 'Better at Home' suite at MFT.

The post holder must ensure the delivery of education and training to support evidence based care to parents, carers and care packages.

The post holder will educate parents, carers and care packages to a high standard of care while participating in audit and research. In conjunction with the LTV MDT, the post holder will ensure that the education package is fit for purpose in terms of their roles and that individual competencies are reviewed to provide a safe, high quality and efficient service.
