Location; Royal Manchester Children's Hospital
Royal Manchester Children's Hospital is a large 371 bedded tertiary Children's Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include mostclinical paediatric specialties.
Due tomaternity leave, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable Band 5 acute paediatric speech and language therapist (SLT) to join our dynamic paediatric team on a 12 month contract.
In this role, you will contribute to ensuring continuity of care and service delivery. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, contributing your skills and expertise .
You will work within our acute team and have a delegated and supported caseload of children with a wide range of communication difficulties. You will form part of an MDT providing holistic care to patients across wards and specialist outpatient clinics. Our acute paediatric SLT team will support your development allocating a dedicated clinical supervisor.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone with
A UK recognised SLT degree with HCPC registration
Recent relevant clinical experience and transferable skills from either the hospital or community setting
your work requirements are to:
Provide assessment and management of children with a comprehensive range of communication needs liaising with the MDT.
Take responsibility for devising, monitoring, and evaluating advice/ programmes of care for parents/ carers and other professionals.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to provide education, advice and support to patients, parents/carers, and the wider staff team.
Have excellent organisational and time management skills, being able to prioritise a busy workload and cope well under pressure.
Take responsibility for keeping up to date with recent developments and research relevant to clinical area and contribute to small scale audits and studies as appropriate.
Participate in training and teaching for other students, ward and other care staff
