Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Trials Coordinator (Band 4-5 development role) within Research and Innovation (R&I) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) to support research across all MFT hospitals. This enthusiastic and self-motivated individual will be joining theCollaborative Team the Collaborative team looks after the following specialities Burns & Plastics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Audiology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Head & Neck, Ageing & Dementias, Dermatology, Neurology, Colorectal, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Hepatobiliary, Maxillofacial . This is an opportunity to be part of an engaging team with nationally and internationally recognised investigators who work in the forefront of cutting-edge research to develop diagnostics and treatments. This post is offered as a Band 4-5 Developmental role. The post holder will join the team at Band 4 (Clinical Trials Administrator) and progress to Band 5 (Clinical Trials Coordinator) upon successfully completing the competency assessment criteria checklist for the Band 5 role over the first 6 months in post. Depending on experience, the time period for completing the assessment criteria may be extended to 12 months. The successful applicant will work closely with a dedicated mentor who will provide robust training to enable them to meet the above competencies within the outlined timeframe. The postholder will need to be flexible and adaptable to support set up and coordination.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative processes are in place for setting up studies, organising necessary approvals, data management, ensuring full compliance with the regulatory framework; including financial management of study set-up costs and income recovery in conjunction with the R&I finance team.

The post holder will act as a main point of contact for their specialty research working closely with Investigators, the Trust Research Office, clinical colleagues, and service support departments within MFT along with external pharmaceutical companies.

They will ensure that comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative processes are in place and followed for the set up and coordination of studies, ensuring full compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the regulatory framework in order to support the successful delivery of the research portfolio for this speciality.

They should be educated to degree level in a health-related discipline or have demonstrable experience in the conduct and management of research and clinical trials.

Line management experience is desired.

The post holder will need to be able to work flexibly and independently as well as being a committed team worker, and also be willing to travel to other sites in the Trust as required.
