Job summary
Ward 84 OPD/DCU is a regional centre for treatment of children with life threatening malignancies and blood disorders. It is a dedicated Out-patient and Day Case facility. Our clinic facilitates 30 plus Oncology/Haematology clinics per week including a weekly general anaesthetic list for bone marrow and lumber puncture procedures.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a professional and friendly team, delivering high standards of care to our patients and their families as they undertake complex treatment.
We are currently looking for a hard working and enthusiastic Outpatient receptionist to support our department and achieve an effective and efficient service to our patients.
Please note: There can be occasional/distressing circumstances when dealing with emotional relatives and the consequences of terminal illness.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the unit/staff. Contribute to the provision of a customer-centric reception service, communicating effectively with patients, staff and visitors, and ensuring their needs are met.
- To ensure that administration and clerical issues are managed efficiently, and our Electronic Patient Record system HIVE, is updated in a timely manner.
- Dealing promptly with routine enquiries from staff and patients both on the telephone and in person, communicating appropriately thereafter.
- To assist in arranging appointment and admissions, where appropriate to the specialty.
- Providing assistance to your colleagues and cover for sickness and annual leave, helping to ensure an effective administrative service at all times
- You need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issue
- Undertake any training that is required for the safe effective execution of duties of the post
