Job summary
Manchester Community Dental Service (MCDS) has five Health Centre's / Clinics providing dental services within the Manchester Local Care Organisation (MLCO). Four of these accommodate Foundation Dentists. MCDS provides a high standard of professional care for patients who are unable to access care in the General Dental Services due to their additional needs. It provides comprehensive dental care for people in priority groups to ensure that they are able to access primary and specialist dental care. In addition, MCDS provides a specialised dental service which complements the existing primary dental services. In particular, it provides dental care for patients of all ages with challenging medical conditions, learning difficulties, mental and physical disability, special dental conditions and social and behavioral limitations. Emphasis is given to the promotion of dental health and the prevention of disease
The Dental Nurse Team Leader will collaborate with the clinician for the day-to-day running of the multi-surgery dental clinic. They will be responsible for leading the clinic's Dental Nurse Team. They will assist the Dental Nurse Manager to ensure that clinical and administrative support is provided to dental clinicians, foundation dentists and dental care professionals in all aspects of dental care, whether in Health Centres, on domiciliary visits or during and epidemiology Survey programmes.
Main duties of the job
Assist the Leadership team to ensure that the care of patients receiving treatment is delivered by dental nurses in accordance with agreed standards.
Liaise with the Leadership team on all aspects of the daily role of the dental nurse.
Liaise with the Leadership team to staff clinical sessions, by timely deployment of dental nurses to best advantage for city-wide service provision.
Provide Dental Nurse Team Leader support for Service needs at other clinics besides base clinic.
Responsible for undertaking regular 1 to 1 reviews and annual appraisals.Liaise with Clinicians and provide support during Local inductions for Foundation Dentists.
Support the Leadership team with the coordination of Dental Nurse new starters. Provide Local induction and supervision in the delivery of specific training.
Responsible for ensuring that dental materials are ordered through Service internal systems and maintain robust stock control of consumables.
To act as Super User on Dentally EPR systems and provide support to system users. Monitor system data at point of use for accuracy, Carry out regular housekeeping on the system.
The post holder will be required to use post qualification skills and knowledge in specialist areas within the dental team.
To carry out Extended Duties for Dental Nurses as required under the direction of the clinician.
Participate in the Service Meetings as required. Dental Nurse Team Leader meetings, deputise for Senior Dental Nurse as appropriate.
