Job summary
The Paediatric Gastroenterology Specialist Nursing team at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital work within a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist nursing support for children and young people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Intestinal failure requiring Home Parenteral Nutrition. The team also provides a nurse-led investigation service.
This is an exciting opportunity for an additional two nurses to join our Paediatric Gastroenterology Nurse Specialist team. We are looking fora registered children nurse(s), who is proactive, dynamic and self-motivated, with experience in delivering nursing care to patients and families with intestinal failure and/or inflammatory Bowel Disease. The team is entering a period of new and innovative developments aiming at enhancing our patient journeys and providing up to date evidenced based care which meets local, national and international standards.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Nurse role will involve working closely within the multidisciplinary team and will be a crucial part of ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care and service. In addition, they will contribute to developing and delivering education to a wide range of staff and will be working with families and other professionals in both the hospital and community settings. Audit and research are also an inherent part of this role.
Applicants should be able to work independently and with supervision, to be able to prioritise their workload and use their own initiative whilst recognizing their limitations and when to seek support. Individualised training and supervision will be provided by the existing team and there will be opportunities to participate in external courses and educational events as appropriate.
The successful candidate(s) will ideally have a minimum of three years nursing experience within the NHS at Band 5 or 6 level, although additional training and development opportunities will be provided for the right candidate. There are two posts available, one full time (37.5hours) and one part time (30hours).
