Highly Specialist Paediatric Neurosciences Pharmacist

Job summary

The Women's and Children's Pharmacy Team at MFT has a great opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and organised specialist pharmacist to join our neurosciences, surgical and critical care clinical pharmacy team. This role will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will provide clinical pharmacy support to patients, families and staff. We are seeking a pharmacist who is passionate, dedicated, and motivated to learn about this area. In this role you will supported by the Lead Paediatric Critical Care, Theatres and Surgery Pharmacist, the wider neurosciences team and the pharmacy team as a whole.

This is a training role depending on experience will depend on whether you are offered a 7 to 8a progressional role or the 8a role.

Main duties of the job

As part of a tertiary paediatric neurosciences multidisciplinary team with strong, well-established links with pharmacy, you will be responsible for providing care to patients with complex epilepsy, acquired brain injury and neuroinflammatory conditions.

In addition you will play a key role in the delivery of novel treatments for neuromuscular and neurometabolic conditions including gene and enzyme replacement therapies.

We are also one of only four centres in England providing specialist epilepsy surgery and surgical management of neurovascular diseases and brain tumours.

Working within the Women's and Children's pharmacy team can offer you support in developing your expertise and skills through formal training courses, mentoring and regular appraisals. We have a wealth of clinical knowledge in a wide range of specialities, with a strong team of senior pharmacists. We have excellent links with University of Manchester, CPPE and a variety of clinical national networks.

As a senior member of our Women's and Children's pharmacy team you can nurture and develop your leadership, education and training skills to line manage, mentor and train rotational pharmacists, technicians, and clinical colleagues.

  • Current membership of GPhC
  • Vocational Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Pre-registration training and successful completion of relevant examination Job related postgraduate qualification eg clinical diploma (or successful completion of the first year), or equivalent vocational experience

Desirable

  • Member of National/ International Specialist Organisation
  • Completion of the Independent Prescribing Course

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Professional knowledge acquired through the vocational masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent preregistration experience
