Job summary
The post holder will complement existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise in General and Colorectal Surgery. The post holder will therefore be required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice. The postholder will have completed postgraduate training and been awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training or its equivalent in General Surgery, or shall have equivalent experience and competencies. Having additional experience or qualifications in Gynaecology (e.g., BAO) would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will work within the Colorectal Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The purpose of the post is to give the post holder enhanced experience in complex laparoscopic / robotic colorectal procedures (colorectal cancer, pelvic floor), along with a focus on supporting colleagues in Gynaecology. There will be regular operating lists and multi-disciplinary team meetings with the BSGE accredited endometriosis service and NHS England specialised service for mesh complications, based in St Mary's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to have excellent communication skills and will interact with nursing staff, medical staff from other specialities and allied health professionals, in addition to other members of the medical and managerial team. Both written and verbal communication will be expected to meet these high standards.
The post holder will be required to work in partnership with colleagues of all disciplines, external links to the Trust and service users, to ensure the creation of a quality service. The post holder will be expected to commit to shared goals in the department by building effective teams and partnerships and valuing the roles and contributions of others.
