Job summary
TWA, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham hospitals is a division of Manchester Foundation Trust and the Facilities staff employed provide an integral service to the smooth running of the Division. We are now looking for staff to work at our Altrincham Division to help us to continue to deliver excellent support services to the hospitals in the Trust.As a Facilities Assistant - Porter you will deliver a full and comprehensive portering and cleaning service to the Altrincham site.We have one post available working 14:00-20:00 Monday - Friday. As we are a hospital facility that is open 7 days per week, the successful candidate may be expected to work on weekends, and bank holidays, including Christmas.
Main duties of the job
To work in one of the dedicated porter posts in the porter's roster, providing a comprehensive hospital portering service to the division as per the service specification. Duties include: transfer of patients between wards and departments; equipment, consumables, catering products and trolleys, mail, case notes, specimens, medical gases, linen, and furniture.
To work closely and support other facilities services such as catering and domestic to ensure the seamless delivery of facilities services.

Job responsibilities
1. Move patients by bed, trolley, and wheelchair as directed by department staff in accordance with agreed procedures.
2. Move case request forms, specimens, medicines, equipment, furniture and other items between wards and departments in line with agreed procedures. This could be according to work schedules or in response to requests by service users.
3. Respond to non-scheduled task instructions from the Helpdesk via the hand-held device.
4. Ensure non-scheduled task response and completion times are recorded on the hand-held device.
5. Report any issues with or delays to the task to the Helpdesk so that a full audit trail is maintained.
6. Collect all refuse including special waste and soiled linen from wards and departments and deliver to designated holding areas in line with agreed procedures.
7. Ensure that waste and linen storage areas are kept safe, clean, tidy and secure. Ensure waste and linen containers are locked and secure.
