Newborn Services, MCS is one service across three sites; the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is based on the Oxford Road Campus (ORC) and the Local Neonatal Units are based at Wythenshawe and North Manchester General Hospital. The NICU at Saint Mary's Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility co-located with the maternity unit and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, renowned for high standards of clinical care, research, and education. Saint Mary's is one of three NICU's in Greater Manchester and as a tertiary unit is the only provider of neonatal surgery and specialist paediatric services. There is a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary working and family integrated care is a central element of the unit culture. This spreads across to our sister units at Wythenshawe and North Manchester, designated as a local neonatal unit, providing short term intensive, high dependency and special care to families residing in the local areas. The post holder will also have the opportunity to work alongside our well established Inreach/Outreach team .

Main duties of the job

High quality evidenced based care is the hallmark of our service and we pride ourselves in delivering excellent quality of care along with a positive experience for families. We provide a cutting-edge service and this is your opportunity to be part of the experience with infants and families by contributing to the high quality care provided by a strong and dedicated workforce, supporting the team to deliver the highest standards of safe and effective care.

You will have experience in the delivery of the highest quality of care, understanding the essentials of effective and safe care that is delegated to you to provide. You will be able to deliver care in the Special Care areas of the neonatal unit and on the postnatal wards. In addition, we will provide you with a comprehensive education and training package to enable you to support the safe delivery of neonatal care in conjunction with the Registered Nursing team in the High Dependency areas of the neonatal unit.

You must be a team player with exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. You will be a caring, compassionate, skilled, and knowledgeable Nursery Nurse, who works well in a busy and fast paced environment. You will be committed to the support and development of self and others and motivated to work collaboratively to achieve the highest standards of care for infants and families.
