Junior Locally Employed Doctor in Oncology

The MFT Wythenshawe Medical Oncology unit has an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated doctor to join our expanding team. The role will give the candidates the opportunity to hone their skills in systemic anti-cancer therapy and palliative care services for early and advances Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, Small Cell Lung Cancer, Thymic Malignancies, and Malignant Mesothelioma.
The successful applicant will work with the Medical Oncology department in a team of 2 fellows, gaining experience in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and our Cecilia chemotherapy unit. The post holder will work in the general clinics, 'One Stop Lung Cancer clinic', and support specialist ward referrals. There will be the opportunity to undertake research projects and present at conferences.
Main duties of the job
The post will be focused on all the elements involved in the safe delivery of palliative and curative systemic anti-cancer therapy for thoracic malignancies though outpatient clinics, inpatient in-reach/acute oncology and chemotherapy unit cover.
They will offer the post holder the opportunity to further develop skills including assessment of patients for and on systemic therapy for thoracic malignancies, management of acute oncological emergencies, diagnosis if malignancy of unknown origin and carcinoma of unknown primary, MDT preparation and participation, audit and QIP, supporting and developing nursing and pharmacist roles and education/teaching through the thoracic directorate and acute oncology teams.
In addition to the above, the post-holder will be involved with clinical research participating as sub-investigator on phase 3 clinical trials and attending trials meetings.
