Job summary

This role will be working within the Ophthalmic Imaging & Diagnostics department at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. The department supports all sub specialties within Ophthalmology by carrying out a number of different imaging services which are used to help measure, diagnose, monitor and treat patients' eye conditions. The Ophthalmic Imaging department is undergoing a period of development and expansion to meet the needs of our patients and service users, including the implementation of various virtual clinics across various sites within the Manchester area.

We are seeking exceptional candidates to work as part of the team to provide a comprehensive imaging service at the highest standard. This is a great opportunity for Ophthalmic Science Practitioners to gain experience in all these areas in a stimulating environment with high levels of support from an experienced and committed team of professionals.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Ophthalmic Imaging team to provide high quality imaging service to all patients using a wide range of ophthalmic imaging techniques including:

UWF Imaging

Optical Coherence Tomography and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography

Humphrey Visual Field Testing

Goldmann Visual Field Testing

Visual Acuity Testing

Patient History Taking

Eye drops instillation

Fundus Fluorescein Angiography

Indocyanine Green Angiography

Intraocular Pressure Measuring (GAT and iCare)

Anterior Segment OCT

Anterior Segment Imaging

Topography

Administration tasks

Essential

  • Level 6 qualification (Science based degree desirable but not essential) or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Further Ophthalmic Course qualifications and certificates

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within an Ophthalmic setting
  • Knowledge of OCT/OCTA
  • Knowledge of Visual Fields (Humphrey and Goldmann)
  • Strong knowledge of Ophthalmic Anatomy
  • Extensive knowledge of Ophthalmic Imaging capture techniques.
  • Ability to deal with difficult and sometimes stressful situations
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience within an Ophthalmic Imaging Department
