Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic Radiographers to join our dynamic and friendly team on a two year fixed basis and play a key role in maintaining and improving standards and quality of our patient services. The post includes training and rotation through all areas of the General X-ray department, including Endoscopy.
Successful candidates will
- Receive a comprehensive induction and training
- Receive a one year preceptorship
- Receive regular appraisals
- Participate in a 24/7 shift system
- Receive enhanced remuneration for night duties
Main duties of the job
- Take responsibility for the welfare and comfort of the patient whilst under the care of the radiology department, prior, during and post their examination
- Ensure IR(ME)R procedures are followed
- Make decisions about the most appropriate examination required
- Physically position the full range of patient presentations with accuracy
- Employ appropriate exposure factors and technique, ensuring dose is kept to a minimum
- Review images and make assessment as to whether additional imaging is required
- Inform patient when the examination is complete and ensure they are aware of where they need to go or where/when they will obtain their results
- Take part in the department "red dot" system
- Ensure full patient and examination data is entered onto the patient management system
- Working without supervision, participate in the out of hour's duty rosters to maintain a 24 hour service to the central site
- Maintain commitment to CPD, keeping up to date with the latest developments, as required for Clinical Governance. Ensure CPD portfolio is kept up to date
- Participate in the training, supervision and assessment of student radiographers
- Ensure all mandatory training requirements are kept up to date
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives
- Prioritising and organisation of departmental workload
- Be aware of IPC procedures
- Report any equipment faults or hazards immediately to a Senior Radiographers.
