Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Macmillan Breast Care Nursing team as a part-time (22 hours per week) Macmillan Breast Prosthetic Advisor/HCSW. No experience is required as training will be given.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible and will work well within a team. The role involves meeting patients and fitting them with a suitable breast prosthesis as well as completing holistic needs assessments (HNA's) with patients. They will also undertake post-operative calls for patients who have had surgery for breast cancer. This role involves cross-site working as the team are based at both Royal Oldham Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The Macmillan Breast Prosthetic Advisor/HCSW works as part of the Macmillan Breast CNS team and provides provision of care for patients in relation to the fitting of breast prosthetics and bras, as well as undertakingHolistic Needs Assessments. The role involves taking responsibility for stock control, assisting in the delivery of care in the out-patient clinic setting, ordering supplies as appropriate, supporting and participating in effective utilisation of resources. In addition, personal and professional development will be maintained and the postholder will act in accordance with Trust policies and guidelines as well as undertake any additional duties relevant to the role at the request of the clinical nurse specialist.
