A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Scrub Practitioner within Adult Theatres with primary duties within the National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS). Our dynamic team covers elective and non-elective surgery across a range of specialities including vascular, general surgery, renal transplant and orthopaedic trauma, and no two days are ever the same!
As one of only 10 NORS teams in the country, we provide specialist clinical skills to support organ donation and renal transplantation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our fast-paced team. Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Registered Nurse or ODP with significant experience as a scrub practitioner, who is an excellent communicator, has strong leadership skills, and works well within a team. You will be required to work a range of shifts including weekends, nights, and on-calls to cover 24-hour emergency service.
You will provide clinical leadership in theatre, ensuring the efficient management of the team and operating list. You will liaise with members of the MDT to ensure that patients receive excellent and timely care. You will take an active role in audits, support junior staff and students, and the theatre management team. You should have a commitment to professional development and will be required to show evidence of recent CPD. We offer a unique range of services to the North West, undertaking the simplest to the most complex surgical procedures, including major trauma. We are seeking a motivated and resilient person who appreciates the value of positive role modelling and who endorses the strategic aims, visions and values of the Trust.
This job opportunity involves being a key part of the National Organ Retrieval Service, a small team comprising of two surgeons, a scrub practitioner, and an organ perfusion practitioner. Whilst based at Manchester Royal Infirmary, the team travels all over the UK at short notice to facilitate deceased organ donation. Comprehensive training will be provided for the scrub and organ perfusion roles you will undertake.
