Job summary

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.
We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology, Cancer, Paediatrics, Women's Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide comprehensive administrative support for the cardiac surgery waiting list.You must have good all round administration skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer service experience and be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office.You will have attention to detail and the ability to prioritise incoming work so as to meet deadlines. With a strong emphasis on customer service, you will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with people at all levels.
The post will be based at Trafford General Hospital, within the Trafford Elective Hub.
Main duties of the job
- Physical Effort
The main physical effort needed for the post is the lifting and transporting of heavy patient notes between various hospital departments. The post-holder will also be required to sit in a restricted position at a computer for sustained periods of time entering patient information and answering telephone queries
- Mental Effort
The need to concentrate and analyse waiting list information with frequent interruptions, and respond to various enquiries from clinical, managerial, and admin & clerical staff whilst trying to meet specific deadlines
- Emotional Effort
Dealing with anxious, distressed patients (or relatives) waiting for hospital treatment. Contacting patients to deal with any queries they may have regarding their admission and having to deal with patient complaints concerning cancelled admissions. Dealing with highly pressured clinical staff
- Working Conditions
Requirement to use VDU more or less continuously during the working day, and regularly answer telephone queries from patients
