Job summary
The Acute Medicine department is looking to appointenthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic colleague to join our team in Acute Medicine at North Manchester Hospital. The consultants in our current team have varied sub-specialty interests including rheumatology, infectious diseases, respiratory, gastroenterology and emergency medicine. We are supported by a large multidisciplinary team of junior trainees, clinical fellows, ACPs and have a dedicated physiotherapy, occupational therapy and NMP pharmacy teams for our unit. We also have excellent record of developing and retaining senior nursing colleagues for our unit.
The clinical level is expected to be very senior registrar or equivalent. The post holder will work alongside the Consultants and deliver consultant duties supported by the consultants. The post also aims to support completion of a CESR qualification for a future consultant post should the post holder wish to do so.
This truly is an exciting time to join North Manchester General Hospital. A once-in-a-generation opportunity will see our hospital rebuilt and the creation of a health hub within our grounds. We are an EIPC enabled hospital with a huge emphasis on post graduate education, with plans in place to become one of the most digitally enhanced hospitals in the UK.
Main duties of the job
The posts are based at North Manchester General Hospital on our two Medical Assessment Units and the acute medical patients we look after in the Emergency department. We have a bust medical SDEC which you may be asked to do shifts on. We also run a successful hospital at home service.
The post will consist of a basic working week of 40 hours plus on call. The oncall commitment is 1 in 8 weekends. The shifts are to cover the acute medical unit and do a consultant level ward round 8am-2pm Saturday and Sunday.
