Digital Network Technician - Voice & Data

Job summary

Job Purpose:

Join our dynamic team as a Digital Network Technician specialising in Data & Voice. You will play a crucial role in the development, installation, support, maintenance, and administration of our data and voice infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the integrity and performance of our infrastructure, supporting clinical and business needs effectively.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of Trust-wide data and voice networks.
  • Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd technical support for LAN, WAN, and WLAN systems.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and service request management.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and suppliers for incident resolution.
  • Install and commission data communication network equipment.
  • Maintain network stability, availability, capacity, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
  • Maintain network administration and housekeeping functions.
  • Liaise between the Network team and Trust Telephony Team.
  • Develop knowledge of IT technical issues relevant to healthcare environments.
  • Act as a point of contact for network-related advice.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and service delivery metrics.

  • Experience of Local Area Networks (LAN) / Wireless Networks (WLAN) / Wide Area Networks (WAN) / Private Ethernet Extension Services (EES) / Community of Interest Networks (COINS)

Knowledge

  • Good understanding of network topologies, protocols and systems including seven-layer model, TCP/IP, routing, management, DHCP, DNS, voice protocols, and application protocols.
