Job summary

North Locality MLCO has an exciting opportunity for an empathetic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our established Community Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation Team in a Band 5 post.

The post involves carrying a complex and varied caseload of patients with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. Due the nature of the caseload, the successful candidate will have excellent opportunities to develop their clinical skills within a highly skilled, specialist Multi-disciplinary Team. This will involve working closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Specialist nurses and Neuro Psychologists. In addition to this there will be opportunities to develop in skills in leadership and delivering service change.

The service is passionate about delivering high quality, patient centered care within the patient's own homes and wider community settings and as a result the successful candidate will be required to travel across the city of Manchester.

Main duties of the job

To provide assessment and intervention for patients with acquired swallowing and/or communication problems, for the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team and Community Stroke Team as required.

To work as part of a Multi-disciplinary Team to deliver integrated care plans with patient needs and goals at the forefront of care.

To take on the support and development for registered and non-registered staff members in the service and students.

To be involved in service development and incentives to improve patient care and ensure the provision of a high quality service.
